The Road to 50,000

        The Jefferson School's bottle & can drive is off and running for the 2011 - 2012 school year.  A huge thank you to the Jefferson community for continuing to make this program a success.  The proceeds for this fundraising initiative go back into the classroom in the form of teacher reimbursements for out-of-pocket expenses.  The program was started by Matt Connelly, a current Remington Middle School teacher. His leadership and vision led the way to more than 1 million redeemables and hundreds of reimbursed purchases.  

        The 2011 - 2012 team of parent volunteers that really make this happen include (No really!): Tricia Boyle, Kristine Carter, Kathy Elkins, Patty Horan, Susan Leite, Kathleen Meunier and lastly Sue Chambers & Jamie Petrin (two veteran volunteers that agreed to help us launch the new year). There is always room for more helpers so just give us a shout.    

When is the next collection?

• Friday morning June 1st (1st Friday of each month)   
  

What can I do to help?

• Send in your redeemable bottles and cans each month. Every little bit counts whether it is 1, 10 , 100 or 1,000.  
• Never send in glass, used food containers, cans and bottles that are still partially filled or cans & bottles not eligible for a $ 0.05 redemption.  
  

Optional:

• Rinse the cans and label your bags.  Although not required it makes the sorting and counting process much quicker.  No judgements on our end either way.   
• Remove the tabs for Mrs. Mark's tab program.
